With the 2 iconic models - Wrangler Unlimited and Grand Cherokee, Jeep entered in Fiat’s India strategy last year.
With a sky-high price, both the SUV serve to the nobles which are having a small share in the market. So, the company has planned something more affordable for the Indian market and it is Christened Jeep Compass. This is the third and the cheapest SUV for Indian buyers by American car makers. It will be produced in both right and left-hand drive.
Jeep Compass will be produced at Ranjangaon, Maharashtra at Fiat’s production site and will launch in mid of this year. It is expected to have a price rate between Rs 20 lakh and Rs 25 lakhs, competing with Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Hyundai Santa Fe and Honda CR-V. It will use Fiat’s 2.0 litre Multijet II oil burner for power.
The design is inspired from Grand Cherokee and an effort has made to give a different look to its exterior.
It has a large 8-inch touchscreen U-Connect infotainment system, soft touch materials, TFT screen, leather seats, multi-functional steering wheel, chrome inserts, push button start and climate control. Additionally, the SUV could be offered with a seven-seat layout.
